Streamlined Police Education and Training to Enhance Law Enforcement Quality — Successful Graduation of Class 44, Type 2, Police Sergeant Program

publish date : 2025-08-15
The 44th Class, Type 2, of the Police Sergeant Program at our University’s Continuing Education and Training Center, comprising a total of 30 trainees, was admitted on August 26, 2024. After completing ten months of rigorous education and training, all trainees passed the required assessments and met the qualifications for graduation. The graduation ceremony was held on June 25, 2025, with graduation certificates awarded to each participant. After graduation, the trainees will return to their original agencies of service. Upon obtaining the official appointment qualification as Police Inspector (Police Rank 2), the National Police Agency, Ministry of the Interior, will assign them to administrative patrol positions as vacancies allow.

The graduating class consisted of 30 outstanding front-line officers from various agencies under the National Police Agency. They earned their place in the program through a highly competitive entrance examination, and during their studies, they underwent strict, multi-faceted academic and practical professional training. Only after passing all evaluations could they qualify for appointment as grassroots security leaders.

The ceremony was presided over by Director Liu Jia-fa of the Center and attended by Deputy Section Chief Weng Zhi-hong of the Education Division, National Police Agency; Police Inspector Chen Jun-yan; faculty and staff of the Center; and the families of the trainees—about 100 people in total. Thanks to the careful preparation of the trainees, the venue vividly showcased ten months of training highlights, giving guests a detailed view of the educational journey. In addition to a total of 1,147 hours of academic and practical training, the graduates had also internalized moral education, leadership cultivation, and personal discipline, becoming well-rounded police leaders equipped with both professional skills and moral integrity.

During the ceremony, Director Liu delivered a heartfelt address, encouraging all trainees in four key areas. First, he urged them to “maintain connections”—as they came from different units and met through this rigorous selection process, they shared ten months of collective effort, unity, and achievement in professional growth. In the future, as important leaders in safeguarding public security, they should continue to nurture and sustain these bonds.

Second, he emphasized the importance of “health”—advising graduates to maintain regular exercise, follow a balanced diet, and make time for physical activity despite demanding workloads, as good health is the foundation of everything in life.

Third, he reminded them to “return to family”—noting that the ten months of training had meant less time spent with loved ones, and that future police leadership roles would entail long hours and unpredictable duties. Therefore, they must treasure and make the most of the time available to be with their families.

Lastly, he encouraged them to embrace “lifelong learning”—to seize every opportunity to improve themselves with diligence and prudence, continuously enhancing their professional competence so they can guide their subordinates in the right direction. In doing so, they would become respected law enforcement leaders, bringing pride to their alma mater, instructors, and families.
